I visited http://www.
edutopia.org/free-school-supplies-fundraising-donation an edutopia website and found it very interesting and most off all useful. Now that everyone's facing the same financial difficulties, this page can be very useful especially to educators and parents.
Just like the title says, "how to get complimentary teaching materials" this article does just, it gi
ves helpful tips and names of organizations one can turn to in need of buying or getting school supplies.
One of the organizations i ranned into while reading this article was FREECYCLE, in which members only log on and donate their old belongings and not selling them. I thought this was such a neat idea and decided to join myself. Now I have just replied to an ad that is giving out free school supplies isn't that awesome.
Also, I really liked the idea of helping others and not only receiving, and thus for that I plan on having TSTA/PREPA adopt a school here in the valley.
Now that times are hard and we all need a little hand, I hope to learn more a
bout non-profit organizations that help out the community. And then hopefully with their guidance I will help make a difference too.
Other topics of interest would be:
- integrating technology in class
- childrens interests
- becoming involved
- and getting parents more involved as well
